CHIPPEWA FALLS – Dan Ebert is upbeat about new technology and innovations for creating energy in Wisconsin and eventually making the state less dependent on foreign oil.“It’s an exciting time to be doing energy policy,” said Ebert, chairman of the state’s Public Service Commission.Ebert visited the Chippewa Valley on Monday as he toured facilities in the region that have made upgrades to be more energy-efficient. He also touted Gov. Jim Doyle’s plan to invest $150 million over 10 years in new energy technologies.

“It’s a tremendous program that will really help us,” Ebert said. “The governor focused on the emerging biofuel economy.”

For instance, some companies are trying to find new ways to create energy by burning tree remnants instead of burning coal.
